On the 13 th May 2000, the Netherlands was shocked by an explosion in Roombeek – a district of Enschede, near the German border – after a fire broke out at a local fireworks depot. 23 people lost their lives in the tragic events. This piece pays tribute to their memory.
‘232.778ºC’ was written during October 2016 and is a musical homage and reaction to Ray Bradbury’s ‘Farenheit 451’ and the illustrations of the novel by Ralph Steadman. It received its premiere on Sunday 20th November at the 40th Brass in Concert Championships at the Sage, Gateshead.
A Bandsman’s Overture was commissioned by British Bandsmanmagazine to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2012. It was premiered by Black Dyke Band, conducted by Dr Nicholas Childs, at a special anniversary concert held in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on July 1st.
Bournemouth Suite was written by Benjamin Tubb in 2005, when the composer was just 17 years of age. After spending many school holiday weeks with his grandparents in the coastal town of Bournmouth, it was obvious that these experiences would make a great basis for a composition.
